---- — OTTUMWA — Four more Iowans have been charged in an ongoing meth investigation two months after officers seized 33 pounds of the drug from two Ottumwa homes and one Newton home.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, additional people were arrested on state drug charges resulting from the meth distribution investigation that led to 33 pounds of ice meth seized on June 15.
On Tuesday, Brett Alan Whittington, 27, of Ottumwa, was charged with conspiracy to deliver more than 5 grams of methamphetamine, a Class B Felony.
On Wednesday, James Lee Fields, 51, of Oskaloosa, Darrell Edward Elmer Cosgrove, 28, of Eldora, and Alicia Ann Choate, 19, of Eldora, were each hit with the same charge.
Additional arrests are pending as a result of the investigation.
In June, four were arrested and charged with conspiracy to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine: Michael McManus Jr., 35, 328 S. Tacoma Ave.; Terry Lee Young, 58, 122 N. James St.; Brian Lee Carmer, 35, of Newton; and Juan Hernandez-Huerta, 25, of Ottumwa.
During the year-long meth investigation, officers conducted more than 20 controlled purchases of meth from a number of offenders.
