OSKALOOSA — Two teenagers were injured in a collision with farm equipment near Oskaloosa Tuesday afternoon.
A 17-year-old Knoxville boy was driving a 1990 Toyota Camry westbound on Iowa Highway 163 when his car collided into the back end of a slow-moving John Deere tractor pulling a field planter, driven by Randal L. DeJong, 55, of Leighton. The accident occurred at approximately 4:54 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Iowa Highway 163 and North Shore Drive outside of Oskaloosa.
The teenager, as well as 18-year-old Derek Levi Springer, of Bussey, were both injured and life-flighted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, respectively.
The accident remains under investigation.
