Beacon man arrested for meth, marijuana

BEACON — A southeast Iowa man has been arrested on drug charges following a search of his home and business.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant Thursday at 515 Reed St. Officers say Christopher Daniel Russell, 35 of Beacon, was arrested after they discovered meth, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, cash, scales and packaging materials.

A statement from the Mahaska County Sheriff's Office says Russell has been charged with possession of meth with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Mahaska County Sheriff's Office, Oskaloosa Police Department and the Southeast Iowa Inter-agency Drug Task Force were all involved in the search.

Russell is currently being held in the Mahaska County Jail.

Possession of meth with intent to deliver is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Possession of marijuana is a serious misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia is a simple misdemeanor.
