---- — OTTUMWA — An Ottumwa man accused in an April stabbing has pleaded guilty.

On April 5, Clint Michael Loveall, 34, was charged with attempted murder after officers discovered a man suffering from multiple stab wounds on his way to the hospital. The stabbing allegedly happened at Royal Rest Motel.

Earlier this month, Loveall had claimed self-defense for his upcoming trial on Aug. 6, but he instead pleaded guilty last week. His plea proceedings will be held Aug. 26.

An agreement was also made between Loveall and the Wapello County Attorney's Office that he would be transported to the Iowa Residential Treatment Center in Mount Pleasant for substance abuse treatment and would be returned to Wapello County Jail upon his discharge.
