OTTUMWA — With forecasters expecting a blizzard and even conservative snowfall estimates predicting at least 5 inches, the City of Ottumwa has declared a snow emergency that will go into effect at 7 p.m. tonight.

When a snow emergency is declared, parking is prohibited on streets marked snow routes. Those streets are marked with blue signs with a large, white snowflake. Parking restrictions apply to all other streets in Ottumwa.

Parking on non-snow route streets is allowed on the even numbered side of the street on even numbered days of the month. It is allowed on the odd numbered side of the street on odd numbered days of the month. If a snow emergency is declared for Thursday, parking would be allowed on the even numbered side of the street.
