DES MOINES — The Ottumwa freshman girls basketball team pitched a shutout in the first quarter and dominated Des Moines North 51-11 in Des Moines Thursday night.
The Bulldogs led 10-0 at the end of the first period and kept up the constant defensive pressure. Ottumwa took a 23-1 advantage into the break.
Jessi Black paced Ottumwa with nine points in the game. Elizabeth Cason notched eight points.
Pressley Caldwell, Andrew Rose and Kimber Bates each chipped in six points.
The victory improves the Bulldogs’ record to 5-2 this season. Ottumwa is back in action on Monday as they host Des Moines Lincoln.
