OTTUMWA – The First Presbyterian book club will meet Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss “Rabbit-Proof Fence” by Doris Pilkington. The book is the second in the club’s Families series.
Based on a true story, “Rabbit-Proof Fence” is a personal account of an indigenous Australian family’s experience with the forced removal of mixed-race children from their families during the early 20th century.
“Rabbit-Proof Fence” was substituted for the book originally scheduled for February due to a lack of availability of the book originally planned, says a press release from the book club.
The club meets in the lounge on the lower level of the First Presbyterian Church on 228 W. Fourth St. in Ottumwa. Anyone who wishes to join the club may request a copy of the book from LuAnn at the church office. Call 641-684-5465.
