Arrest made after officers interrupt burglary

OTTUMWA — Ottumwa police have arrested a man after he allegedly broke into a gun store.

Police Chief Tom McAndrew said in a release that officers interrupted a burglary in progress in the early hours of Monday morning. Officers responding to Fox Hole Firearms in the 2600 block of Roemer Ave. caught the suspect after a short foot chase.

James Edward Deevers, 29, 303 N. Marion St., Ottumwa, faces charges of third degree burglary and driving while suspended. He is being held in the Wapello County Jail on $5,000 bond.
