ALBIA — Federal authorities have announced five convictions, including one of an Albia man, in a child pornography case.
William Trimble Jr. will spend five years in federal prison after being convicted, followed by five years’ supervised release. The case focused on networks used to trade child pornography and videos on peer-to-peer file sharing networks.
A grand jury returned an indictment against Trimble in December 2012. He was arrested later that month. He was charged with two counts of receiving child pornography. He eventually reached a plea bargain that allowed him to plead guilty to one count. The other count was dismissed.
Trimble forfeited his computer as part of the case and will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.
