OTTUMWA — Strengthening Families 10-14 (SFP-10-14) is a fun and effective program where families work together to achieve greater success at school, resist peer pressure, make good friends and respect others. This program also helps families build even stronger relationships at a time when youth are becoming more and more independent.
The program has been offered in communities throughout the country with very positive reactions from families. Typical comments include, "SFP-10-14 helped me learn to be a kind but firm parent, have better communication skills with my child and be consistent with rules and expectations."
This program is supported by the Ottumwa PROSPER Team and is free for all families of sixth-grade youth that attend Evans Middle School. The six-week program will begin at 2 p.m. Feb. 16 at James Elementary School, 1001 N. Benton St. It will run through March 23.
To prepare for the class, registration is needed by Feb. 12. Call the Wapello County Extension Office at 641-682-5491 and ask for Jess or Selina.
