Learn to build your own bow

Ottumwa Courier

---- — FAIRFIELD — The ancient skill of building bows from one piece of wood is an art form, and this spring master bow maker Gene Winter, owner of Winter Bow Shoppe in Waterloo, will hold a two-day workshop at Jefferson County Park, located southeast of Fairfield off Libertyville Road.

The workshop runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4.

Because of the time involved in making a self-bow and the one-on-one instruction required, this program is limited to six participants. There is a $230 fee per student. The osage orange and everything needed for the students will be provided.

To reserve your space, call 641-472-4421 or email therese@jeffersoncountyconservation.com. The event is limited to ages 18 and older.
