---- — FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield Iowa Convention and Visitors Bureau is accepting applications for the 2014 grant program.
The goal of the Bureau's grant fund is to assist qualified organizations in providing excellence in cultural, civic and educational programs that attract visitors to the Fairfield area. The general purpose of each grant is to assist the organization in enhancing the quality of the event experience and increase the number of visitors attracted to the area and further enhancing Fairfield's reputation for providing engaging cultural experiences.
"The Bureau is excited to introduce our 2014 grant program that serves Fairfield area organizations and their respective events," said Rustin Lippincott, Executive Director, Fairfield Iowa Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Local organizations play a vital role in attracting visitors by offering festivals and events that increase the quality of life. We are excited to offer an increase in grant funding due the hotel-motel tax collection."
A new feature this year will allow applicants to choose between filing an online application or downloading the application and sending it in. Applications will be accepted through December 16. The Bureau will announce grant recipients by January 6 for 2014 events and activities. The grant program distributes financial assistance, up to $1,500 per event, following the submission of receipts and invoices, and review of grantee compliance of conditions set forth in the Bureau's grant application. The Bureau grant program is supported from Fairfield's lodging tax, created in 2001 by popular ballot.
"This year's CVB grant program will have assisted 27 different events by end of the calendar year, contributing to the visitor experience, quality of life and driving Fairfield hotel-motel tax revenue," said Lippincott. "The Bureau, along with the grant funds, offers assistance in marketing, public relations and event planning to grant recipients."
