OTTUMWA — Iowa Legal Aid's Legal Hotline for Older Iowans and the Iowa Department on Aging are presenting a free elder law seminar from 12:30-3:45 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Great Prairie Area Education Agency, 2814 N. Court St. in Ottumwa.

The seminar will provide older Iowans and their caregivers with valuable information to protect their rights and limited resources. It will also teach people about avoiding financial exploitation and elder abuse, Medicaid eligibility for paying nursing home and other expenses and health care options and benefits under the new Affordable Care Act health insurance marketplace.
It will be broadcast over the Iowa Communications Network.
The mission of the Iowa Department on Aging is to provide advocacy, educational and prevention services to older Iowans so they can find Iowa a healthy, safe, productive and enjoyable place to live and work.
The Legal Hotline for Older Iowans provides free legal advice and other legal services to Iowans who are 60 or older. The Legal Hotline also conducts free educational presentations to organizations and community groups about legal issues of interest to older Iowans. The Legal Hotline is a special project of Iowa Legal Aid.
