OTTUMWA — The Wapello County Trails Council is hosting its ninth annual Holiday Lighted Hike from 6-8-p.m. Nov. 22 in Ottumwa Park.
The hike begins at the trailhead located behind Herberger’s in the Quincy Place Mall parking lot and will proceed through the Holiday Nights ‘N Lights display. The cost is $5 per person.
The one-mile hike gives participants an opportunity to get a sneak preview of the upcoming seasonal light display from a unique perspective — outside a car. This is the only opportunity to see the lights in this way. Hikers must start the hike by 7:30 p.m.
Refreshments, including chili, hot dogs, cookies and hot chocolate, will be available. Hikers should dress for the weather and bring a flashlight. Luminaries will line portions of the trail. All proceeds support trail development in Ottumwa.
