Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra presents concerts for kids

Ottumwa Courier

---- — OTTUMWA — The Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra will present KIDSYMPHONY Concert for Families in three locations Nov. 9.

The concerts will be held at 11 a.m. at Indian Hills Community College's St. John Auditorium in Ottumwa, 2 p.m. at Iowa Wesleyan College Chapel Auditorium in Mt. Pleasant and 4:30 p.m. at the Capitol Theater in Burlington. Performing Nathaniel Stookey’s hilarious introduction to the orchestra “The Composer is Dead,” Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra and conductor Robert McConnell will present a very funny and memorable concert for families with young children. The story is based on Lemony Snicket’s classic children’s book.

The concert, designed especially to introduce children and their parents to the symphony orchestra, will include demonstrations on all the musical instruments and an opportunity for the audience to play along. It’s fast-paced, very entertaining and fun. The performances will last approximately 45 minutes, and children of all ages are encouraged to attend.

Choose the time and location most convenient for you. Tickets will be available at the door in each venue. Admission costs are $3 for adults and $2 for kids. The SEISO is pleased to offer this concert at very affordable prices and is able to do so through the generosity of Ottumwa Oktoberfest, Burlington Fine Arts League, William M. & Donna J. Hoaglin Foundation, Inc. of Mt. Pleasant, Wapello County Foundation and Wells Fargo Bank of Iowa N.A.
