The Ottumwa Leadership Academy is a 10-month, tuition-based program that provides targeted leadership development strategies. The organization wants to educate, empower, encourage and engage its participants in community leadership. The Mission of Ottumwa Leadership Academy is to develop effective leaders for the betterment of our community.
The program is available to those who live and/or work in Wapello County. It is a selective program, and the selection criteria are based on leadership potential and demonstrated community interest.
New this year is the Andy Hansen Legacy Scholarship. Hansen, who was plant manager at John Deere Ottumwa Works from 2010-13, provided leadership through volunteerism and encouraged others to step into leadership roles. He was a part of several boards of directors, one of them being Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation. The Legacy Foundation wanted to honor Andy’s dedication during his tenure and created the Andy Hansen Legacy Scholarship. This scholarship is for one year’s tuition for a participant from a nonprofit organization or small business that might not otherwise be able to send someone. The application for the scholarship is due in conjunction with the Academy application by July 31.
