ALBIA — If you have questions about the Emerald Ash Borer, plan to attend a meeting at 7 p.m. May 6 at the Monroe County Extension Office, 219 B Ave. West.
Guest speakers will be Dr. Mark Shour, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach entomologist, plus Mike Kintner, Emerald Ash Borer outreach coordinator with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS).
Topics to be covered are Emerald Ash Borer identification and biology, ash tree identification, regulatory issues with EAB, treatment options, being wary consumers and alternative trees to plant, replacing ash trees.
Just a few weeks ago, two more counties — Wapello and Bremer — were added to the standing list of counties in Iowa where Emerald Ash Borer has been discovered. This past week, Jasper County was added to the Iowa list, bringing the total to nine.
