OTTUMWA — The city of Ottumwa will be significantly lowering the water level in the Oxbow Lagoon in Ottumwa Park. Water levels are being reduced to accommodate work on the Stormwater Pump Station Improvements Project.
This project will consist of the installation of a 60-inch culvert under the four-lane highway near The Beach Ottumwa and construction of a new high-capacity stormwater pump station at the Oxbow Lagoon outfall near the Market Street Bridge. These improvements will aid in stormwater management and flood control efforts. Water levels in the Oxbow Lagoon will remain down through the construction project.
Residents with questions about the lagoon lowering are encouraged to contact the Water Pollution Control Facility at 641-683-0683.
