EDDYVILLE — Someone wrote that in spring a young man's fancy turns to love. Could it be that every young woman or girl’s fancy turns to fluffy, billowing, sleek or simmering dresses when spring arrives? Even decades-old dresses worn at prom and beautiful wedding dresses have that unique quality of pretty colors, special fabric and brocade accents.
Come to the Eddyville Historical Museum beginning May 14 and view some of the dresses that will be on display. One can see the history of the different times unfold with the different fabrics used. Also explored will be how the Depression and the effects that the world wars and the Korean conflict had not only on the lives and times of the young people but also the types of material and dresses that were available.
Hours for the display will be Wednesdays (May 14 and May 21) 1-5 p.m., Saturdays (May 17 and 24) 9 a.m. to noon.
There is no charge to view the display.
