Legacy Foundation announces upcoming grant cycle

---- — OTTUMWA — The Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation will begin its next Bright Ideas Community Enrichment Fund grant cycle Sunday.

Since its inception in 2011, this program has awarded $888,000 in grants to not-for-profits providing services in Wapello County. Funded projects have encompassed the areas of arts and culture, education, health, public safety, social services, animal welfare, housing and shelter, youth development, recreation and sports and community vitality.

"This will be our final grant round for 2013," said Kelly Genners, Legacy Foundation director of community leadership and grant-making. "I would encourage our nonprofit organizations to look into the program and not miss out on an opportunity that could make a significant difference to their year."

Applying organizations must be an IRS designated 501(c)3 not-for-profit providing services in Wapello County. Grant requests are allowable up to $30,000. Applicants must complete and submit the online application by midnight on Oct.15 to be eligible for consideration.
