OSKALOOSA — After heavy rains drenched Iowa, some roads are closed because of flooding. It's not everywhere, and not every road that can flood got enough rain to do so, but it's better to know before you head out.
The Iowa Department of Transportation maintains a website that can update travellers about road conditions. Iowa 511 showed only one closure in the area Tuesday — Highway 92 west of Oskaloosa. A larger swath of roads through the state are also closed, most within 50 miles north or south of Interstate 80.
But there are other hazards drivers might want to be aware of, like Highway 34 road construction near Albia.
It's worth taking a look at the website before heading out for trips. While detours are set up in many cases, you might be able to find a faster way around by taking a few minutes ahead of time.
