Ottumwa Courier

---- — BONAPARTE — Bonaparte Main Street will host their 11th annual “Taste of Chocolate” Sept. 14.

Taking place at the Whiteley Opera House at 614 First St. in Bonaparte, the event will run from 1-4 p.m. in the afternoon.

This event offers homemade chocolate confections in bite-size pieces displayed for you to indulge in creating your own special box of goodies. Rich, chocolaty treats and delicacies will be sold by the pound for guests to take home and enjoy.

“This is a chocoholic’s paradise,” said promotion chair Dana Mabe. She goes on to explain that the "Taste" not only lets guests choose chocolate delights they may not make for themselves, but it gives bakers the opportunity to try new recipes.

Wine tasting will be sponsored by the Bonaparte Pottery at the "Taste of Chocolate," featuring a chocolate wine created by Tassel Ridge Winery.

The Bonaparte Historical Society is selling tickets on several different chocolate-related items and gift baskets. The drawing will be at the end of the "Taste."

The Burns Gallery and Tea Emporium will host a tea tasting featuring a chocolate tea at 604 First St., and a scavenger hunt with all things chocolate will be offered by the local downtown businesses.

In conjunction with the "Taste of Chocolate," the Bonaparte Fourth of July Committee will have vendors in the park featuring antique, flea market, craft and home party items.
