Scenic Drive Festival Oct. 12-13

KEOSAUQUA — The Villages of Van Buren in scenic southeast Iowa invite you to their largest event of the year. The Scenic Drive Festival, which is always held the second full weekend in October, is full of fun activities for the entire family!

Visitors are encouraged to follow the marked "Scenic Drive" through the county to experience each of the historic Villages. There will be fine arts, crafts, flea markets, a car show, tractor shows, a parade, tours of historic sites, fun runs and so much more.

New this year, Dancing Hooves Drill Team from central Iowa will be performing on horseback. Be sure to bring your camera for the new fun photo contest with a grand prize of a two-night stay at Pine Ridge Retreat Cabins at Lake Sugema. There is no admission fee to the Scenic Drive Festival.

The new fun photo contest encourages everyone to grab their camera to win prizes. There are 11 wooden “standees” throughout the Villages — painted scenes on plywood with cut-out holes for guests to pose with their face in the scene. Visitors must seek out at least eight and take their picture. Pictures must be presented at the Welcome Center at 809 First St., Keosauqua, no later than 4 p.m. Oct. 13. Everyone will win a prize, plus they will receive an entry for the grand prize, a Villages rest and relax getaway, which includes numerous gift certificates from area businesses plus a two-night stay at Pine Ridge Retreat cabins at Lake Sugema.
