---- — BLOOMFIELD — Mary Lee Closser Westfall, 79, of St. Jacob, Ill., joined her daughter in heaven Nov. 24, 2013, at the Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.

She was born May 4, 1934, in Dow, Ill., to James Arthur and Hazel Rice Prine. She married Robert Gene Closser Oct. 24, 1952, in Jerseyville, Ill.. She later married W. Haven Westfall Aug. 10, 1986, in Jerseyville. She was an in-home caregiver for several years. Mary was a Past Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge #144 and Odd Fellows Neilson Lodge #25 in Troy. She was past president of United Methodist Women at the First United Methodist Church in Troy, Ill. She enjoyed going to casinos, gardening, being outdoors and animals, especially her two shih tzus, Meg and Mac. Mary moved to Bloomfield a year ago to live with her granddaughter, Traci (Dan) Wiegand.

She was a woman of strong faith believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await her after passing.

She is survived by her husband; son, Jim (Tammy) Closser of Milton; five daughters, Phyllis Closser of Des Moines, Barb (Joe) Sandegren of Agency, Sue (Rick Hopkins) Zook of Unionville, Lisa (Mike Karr) Barrett, Gwen (Russ) Bridgman, both of Bloomfield; three stepsons, Roger (Eileen) Westfall, Dale (Deb) Westfall, Dennis (Cindy) Westfall, all of Troy, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen Leon; and three sisters, Dorothy J. Cummings, Lucille Losch and Leola Timpe.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield; Pastor Jeremy Skinner officiating. Burial will be at the South Prairie Cemetery in Van Buren County.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established to her family.
