---- — CENTERVILLE — John Allen Johnson, 54, of Centerville, died Nov. 22, 2013, at Golden Age Care Center, Centerville.

He was born on Sept. 12, 1959, in Centerville, the son of Vern William and Elizabeth “Betty” Annette (Wilson) Johnson.

As a child, John grew up in rural Unionville. John and his mother later moved to Ottumwa, where he attended Smith Warren School, Center of Hope and Tenco.

John is survived by his mother, Betty Johnson of Centerville; two brothers, Richard Johnson and his wife, Yvonne, and Russell Johnson and his wife, Chris, all of Unionville.

In death, John joins his father, Vern Johnson; a sister, Kathy Johnson; paternal grandparents, Claus and Dora Johnson; and maternal grandparents, Dell and Lucy Glen Wilson.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation for all the caregivers and facilities that helped to make John’s daily life comfortable. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Ottumwa ResCare, Center of Hope, Tenco Industries and most recently the current staff of Golden Age Care Center, Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospice of Centerville.

The body has been cremated, and a graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Unionville Cemetery in Unionville; Patty Self officiating.

Memorials can be made to the Unionville Cemetery and may be mailed to the family at 10043 Bison Trail, Unionville, Iowa 52594.
