OTTUMWA — Kay E. Dinsmore, 72, of Ottumwa, passed away Aug. 15, 2013, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
She was born Thursday, Jan. 9, 1941, in Ottumwa, the daughter of James Ward and Helen Fern Latham Dunn. She graduated valedictorian from Fremont High School with the class of 1959, where she participated in marching band, played basketball and enjoyed riding her horse "Lady." On June 2, 1963, she was united in marriage to Larry Dinsmore and later divorced.
Kay was proud of her banking career. She worked many years at Union Bank and Trust and also worked a time for First Star Bank and later at Mahaska State Bank before retiring from South Ottumwa Savings Bank in 1997. She was a member of Business and Professional Women and The Red Hat Society and attended the First United Methodist Church. Kay enjoyed going shopping, traveling and collecting coins. She was very proud of her grandchildren and delighted in spending time with them and attending their activities.
Her family includes her two wonderful daughters, Brook (Ted) Baxter of Ankeny and Jana (Kerry) Lake of New Sharon; four grandchildren, Kody and Kourtney Lake and Brandon and Ashley Baxter; a sister, Shirley (Rex) Baxter of Fremont; and a brother, Gary (Dodie) Dunn of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Fremont Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation with the family present will be from 2-4 p.m Sunday at the funeral home.
