BLAKESBURG -- Douglas Edward Boyd, 50, of 21307 87th St., died at 11:05 p.m. May 16, 2013 at his home.
He was born April 12, 1963 in Ottumwa to Thomas P. and Kay Carroll Boyd. He married Lois Larson on July 20, 1990.
Doug was a 1981 graduate of Blakesburg High School. He served with the Iowa Army National Guard for 5 years as a demolition specialist.
He loved history and watching boxing. Doug participated in martial arts, having earned a black belt and teaching Tae Kwon Do. He loved gardening.
Surviving is his wife, Lois; a daughter, Alyssa (Jacob) Waltman of Blakesburg; a step-son, Adam (Elizabeth) Larson of Des Moines; his mother, Kay Boyd of Blakesburg; a sister, Mary Kay (Eric) Van Gorp of Knoxville; a niece, Emma and his dog, Ellie.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Boyd; a brother, Phil Boyd and a niece Amy Lynn Boyd.
His body has been cremated.
Graveside services and inurnment will be 11 a.m. Monday at Chisman Cemetery with Kevin Palmer officiating.
Visitation with the family present will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
