OTTUMWA — Erna E. Logan, 97, of Ottumwa, died Feb. 11, 2014, at Hospice House.
She was born July 15, 1916, in Davenport to Fred and Ella Schmidt Ihlefeld.
She married William Wesley Howe, Feb. 12, 1938, in Cedar County. He died Sept. 1, 1954. She married John A. Logan January 31, 1959, in Ottumwa. He died Feb. 11, 2006.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a past president of Ottumwa Women's Club, Jubilee Circle Kings Daughters and ILLIAMO unit of WBCCI. She also served on the board of Ottumwa Regional Health Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Dale W. (Jeanne) Howe of Ottumwa, Dennis F. (Joanne) Howe of Rockford, Ill., and Darryl F. (Janice Meola) Howe of Naperville, Ill.; one stepson, John Christopher (Carol) Logan of Ottumwa; one stepdaughter, Kay Logan of Kattskill Bay, N.Y.; one sister, Vera Sessler of Durant; one brother, Edgar Ihlefeld of Davenport; 11 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death in addition to her husbands were one daughter, Donna Hahn; one stepdaughter, Judith Ann Legnard; one grandson, John Evan Logan; one great-granddaughter, Meghan Howe; and two brothers, Bruno and Albert Ihlefeld.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church; Pastor Ron Barnett officiating.
Open visitation begins at 9 a.m. Friday at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 p.m.
