OTTUMWA — Lois M. McCormick, 84, of 1590 N. Van Buren, died at 7:05 a.m. February 19, 2014 at Ridgewood Nursing & Rehab Center in Ottumwa.
She was born November 22, 1929 in Davis County, IA to Raymond C. and Delpha L. Horn Spurgeon. She married Edward L. McCormick on December 20, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, Lois had worked at Busy Bee Antique Store, Edd the Florist, Seifert’s and Le Ann’s.
Lois was a member of Davis St. Christian Church, Christian Women’s Fellowship and American Business Women’s Association. She loved to play bridge and work in her garden.
Surviving is her husband, Ed; two daughters, Sheila Petersen of Ottumwa and Shelly (David) Rogers of Alpine, TX; three grandchildren, Brenda Haynes, Jenny Gruber and Callie Hamilton; four great-grandchildren, Rylee, Carrson, Maddisen and Lena; two brothers, Ronald Spurgeon of Wilton and James (Pat) Spurgeon of New London; a sister, Beverly (John) Gillaspie of Williamsburg.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Petersen; son-in-law, Pete Petersen; two brothers, Verlin and Lowell Spurgeon and a sister, Roma Spurgeon.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Davis St. Christian Church with Rev. James H. Wakelin officiating. Burial will be in the Floris Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 3 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home. The family will be present at the church one hour prior to the service.
