HEDRICK — Janice Rae Breon, 68, of 307 E. Fifth St., went home to be with the Lord at 1:55 p.m. February 28, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born January 29, 1946, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Robert E. and Norma J. Harkins Spilman. She married Ronald Kulmatycki on May 1, 1965. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1966. She married Ross Breon on July 23, 1966.
A graduate of Hedrick High School in 1964, she worked for Mosbey Standard Oil Station, Spilman’s Drive-In Restaurant and did sewing for many people.
She was a member of Arendt-Bowlin-Stubbs Post # 83 American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and painting. She donated quilts to various fundraisers and organizations. She especially loved to decorate.
Surviving are her husband, Ross; two sons, Jeffery Scott (Julie) Kulmatycki of Centerville and John Marshall (Sarah) Breon of La Vernia, Texas; a daughter, Jodi Rae Weinhold of Hedrick; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her father, Bob Spilman of Hedrick; two sisters, Vicki (Ron) Ebelsheiser of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Roxanne (Ed) Mosbey of Hedrick; a brother, Michael (Anne) Spilman of Hedrick; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma; grandparents, Roy and Lucille Harkins and Minnie Souer.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Hornback officiating. Burial will be in Brooks Cemetery west of Hedrick.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
