OTTUMWA — Darlene L. Richards, 87, of 113 S. Madison Ave., died in peace at 1:12 p.m. December 16, 2013, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born January 19, 1926, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Albert and Cecil Clancy Davis. She married Earl Richards on June 23, 1945, in Centerville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2006.
Surviving are two daughters, Melba (Larry) Beadle of Oskaloosa and Cathy Lindsey (Tom Wright) of Ottumwa; three sons, Michael Richards (Judy) of Ottumwa, Stephen (Louise) Richards of Altoona and Craig (Tina) Richards of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Adam (Shannon), Chad (Shawna), Kristi (Rick) Samantha and Brittany; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stillborn son, David Dwayne Richards; five sisters, Rosemary Davis, Betty Eslinger, Lois Davis, Mary Lou Glasgow and Rebecca Ann Davis; four brothers, Gerald, Donald, Jerry and Bobby Davis.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Schlotter officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
