OTTUMWA — Irvin Guy Duden, 90, of 1405 Albia Rd., died at 8:35 p.m. December 19, 2013 at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
He was born July 12, 1923 in Allerton to Guy Young and Beulah Ockerman Duden.
He married Beatrice Jones in 1945. She preceded him in death in 1973. He married Mary Jane Finley on June 8, 1974.
A 1940 graduate of Promise City High School, Irvin served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific.
He was a carpenter by trade and worked for R.G. Smith for 22 years. Irvin worked for the City of Ottumwa for 15 years as building inspector.
He was a member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and a past member of Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving is his wife, Mary; a daughter, Cathy (Marion) Martsching; a step-son, David Finley (Patricia Work) of Iowa City; two step-grandsons; many loving nieces and nephews and his dog, Rudi.
He was preceded in death by a step-son, Fred Finley; a sister and brother-in-law, Lurie and Evert Holm.
His body has been cremated and no services are planned. Memorials may be made to O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion or to the charity of your choice.
