MILTON — Viola Maxine Osing Thomas, 88, formerly of Milton, died at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Parkview Care Center, Fairfield, where she had resided since February 2011.
She was born Oct. 18, 1925, near Cantril to August H. and Rose Marie Pflanz Osing. She married Carl Davidson and they divorced. She married Cleo Thomas Aug. 21, 1975. He died Aug. 21, 2004. Maxine lived most of her life in Ottumwa and Milton. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed playing cards, sewing, quilting and playing with her grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Carey (Cecil) of Fairfield and Teresa Broseh (Earl) of Terrell, Texas; two stepsons, Steve Thomas (Brenda) of Milton and Dean Thomas (Debbie) of Parksville, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Nancy Jean Schweiger of Green Valley, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; several great- and great-great grandchildren; a brother, Charles Osing of Ottumwa; a sister, Madeline Craff of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, Richard Thomas of Mt. Vernon; and three nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua; Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton.
Visitation with family present will be from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service.
