OLLIE — Phyllis Jean Molkenthin, 84, of Ollie, passed away Dec. 22, 2013, at Iowa City Hospice House.
She was born March 15, 1929, in Washington County to Elmer and Alta Guenther. She graduated from Washington High School in 1947 and from Paris Beauty School in Cedar Rapids in 1949. On Feb. 25, 1951, Phyllis was united in marriage to Herbert Molkenthin In Washington.
She was a member of Prairie View United Methodist Church, Mahaska County Traveling Chiefs and the Ottumwa Card Club. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, playing Sudoku and camping at the Iowa State Fair for more than 50 years, but her greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Molkenthin of Ollie; a son, Robert (Gail) Molkenthin of Ollie, four grandchildren, Sandra (Shawn) McBeth of Hedrick, Micheal Molkenthin of Alexandria, Va., Trenton Molkenthin of Ollie and Kelsey Molkenthin of Des Moines; four great-grandchildren, Kaden, Kale, Kory, "baby girl to be" McBeth, all of Hedrick; and a brother, William (Carolyn) Guenther of Washington.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert; and a sister Maxine.
Funeral services will be Dec. 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Prairie View United Methodist Church with Rev. David Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at Pennington Cemetery near Sigourney.
Visitation with the family present will be held from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 26, 2013, at Prairie View United Methodist Church near Ollie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the family.
