CEDAR RAPIDS — Jon Arnold “Arnie” Styre, 47, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and formerly of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly Jan. 12, 2014, in his home.
Arnie was born Feb. 8, 1966, in Berkley, Calif. He graduated from Kennedy High School, Cedar Rapids, in 1984 and attended CFCC in Ocala, Fla. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. In his early 20s, he started working in the Nuclear Power Industry as a radiation protection technologist. He was very well respected by all those he worked with. Arnie was a silver direct distributor for Usana nutritional supplements. He was a real go-getter type guy. He always wore a big smile, and to go with that smile, he had big-big-big beautiful brown eyes. There wasn’t a project that he couldn’t do, and “Joycie” often had a honey-do list for him to prove it. He loved his sweet little family. He loved to golf and fish with his boys and his friends. Jonna was his little “Pookie.” If you were invited to the Styre home for a meal, you would find Arnie at the grill flipping burgers, cooking chicken or grilling homemade pizza. Arnie loved to decorate for the holidays and always made the family recipe of homemade noodles at Thanksgiving. He loved the beach and the ocean. His two younger brothers looked up to him as their “hero.” Much, much more could be said about him, but we’ll end saying, “He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. All our love to a beautiful son, husband, father, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Rest in Jesus, dear Arnie …”
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; daughter, Jonna; sons, Jacob and Joshua, all of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; his mother, Sandi Wright Richmond (Barry) of Cedar Rapids; his father Jon Styre (Dorothy) of Robins; brothers, Edward Styre (Nicole) of Austin, Texas, and Aaron Styre of Cedar Rapids; his grandfather, Edward Wright of Ottumwa; two nephews, Brenden Styre and Connor Miller, both of Cedar Rapids; many aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
