RICHLAND — Chloe A. Andeway, 78, of Richland, passed away Jan. 1, 2014, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.
Chloe was born Jan. 9, 1935, in Putnam County, Mo., the daughter of Pearl V. and Nola O. Hogue Ruggles. She graduated from Pleasant Plain High School and Parsons College in Fairfield. She taught second grade in Ollie, and then from 1962-95 taught first grade at Pekin Community School.
In 1953, she was united in marriage to Richard Fritchen. He passed away in October 1988. On Nov. 23, 1991, she was united in marriage to Leonard Andeway at the Ollie Baptist Church.
In January 1996, she and Leonard began wintering in Texas. Her hobbies included handiwork, gardening, playing with her grandchildren and traveling. Chloe was a member of the Ollie Eastern Star, Ollie Baptist Church, Retired Teachers Association, Jefferson County Reading Association, Iowa Reading Association and National Education Association and the Ollie Baptist Women's church group.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard, of Richland; sons, Walter (Lori Siegrisk) Fritchen of Cedar Rapids, Brian Jay (Kathy) Fritchen of Fort Dodge, Jeffrey (Mary Schill) Andeway of Hedrick, Kelly Andeway of Ollie; daughters, Margaret Bosley of Kansas City, Mo., Suzanne Andeway of Boston, Mass., and Denise (John) Nelson of Richland; 12 grandchildren, Amber and Amanda Bosley, Bree (Travis) Scheidecker, Bailey (John) Hook, Mandy (Robert) Tranquillo, Skye Steenhoek, Justin Stevens, Adam (Karen) Stafford, Rebecca (Matt) Weaver, Rachel Shoemaker, Brandon Andeway and Nicholas Andeway, Arian Wickenkamp-Andeway; many great-grandchildren; and a brother; Roger (Anna) Ruggles of Alamo, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Richard; a son, David Fritchen; and a sister-in-law, Donna Ruggles.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Ollie Baptist Church in Ollie. Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery near Richland.
Visitation with the family present will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the Fremont Funeral Chapel.
