---- — EDDYVILLE — James Lloyd “Chuck” Crile Sr., 59, of Eddyville, died early on the morning of Jan. 6, 2014, at his home in rural Eddyville.

James was born on May 27, 1954, in Eureka, Calif., the son of Clarence Milton and Helen Marie (Schmidt) Crile. James grew up and attended school in Kingman, Kan. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Idaho.

On July 25, 1992, in Hutchinson, Kan., James and Doris Anne Kline were united in marriage. James and Doris were friends for many years and shared 21 years of marriage before James’ passing.

James was a logger for 44 years. He logged in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Iowa. He was also a locksmith for many years. James was an avid hunter; he enjoyed gardening and gun collecting. He was especially proud of helping raise his grandchildren and building his home.

James is survived by his wife, Doris Crile of rural Eddyville; his two children, Tammie Lynn Crile and James Lloyd Crile Jr., both of Idaho; three grandchildren, James Scott Pankey, Ryan Wesley and Ryley Austin Crile. James is also survived by his siblings, Anna Jefferies, Jewel Fry, Betty Crile, John Crile, Kathreen Csenada, Eva Reginer, Clarence “Spike” Crile Jr., Charles Crile and Lela Mahoney; two brothers-in-law, Keith and Henry Kline; and one sister-in-law, Donna Martin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Helen Crile; father-in-law, Donald Kline; and one brother, Lee Crile.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Gateway Church of the Nazarene of Oskaloosa. Prior to services, all are invited to a luncheon, which will be held at the church beginning at noon. Burial will follow services at Pleasant Corners Cemetery of rural Eddyville.

Visitation for James will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. James’ family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

A memorial has been established to the Red Cross of Ottumwa or Hospice of Monroe County.
