OTTUMWA — Lynn F. Harriman, 77, of Ottumwa and formerly of North English, died Jan. 5, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born Oct. 22, 1936, near North English, the son of Jewell and Zelda (Holland) Harriman. He graduated from North English High School in 1955. On July 6, 1957, Lynn married Dorothy Lekin. They later divorced. Lynn then married Doris Possehl Ohlen on Dec. 17, 1978, in Marengo. They divorced in 2003. Lynn farmed for many years. After moving to Marengo, he owned and operated Iowa County Livestock Auction. He moved to Bloomfield, where he raised and sold horses. Lynn later moved to Ottumwa and operated a pawn shop and auto sales business. Lynn was a former member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He enjoyed his horses and John Wayne movies.
He is survived by a daughter-in-law Julie Harriman of North English; a stepdaughter, Heidi (Kevin) Durbin of Grinnell; two grandchildren, Trent and Taylor Harriman of North English; two stepgrandchildren, Hayes and Hattie Durbin of Grinnell; and a family friend, Jeannie Richardson of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Terry Harriman.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English; Pastor Luke Caster will officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
A general memorial fund has been established.
