Vaughn Leo Proctor, 97, of Drakesville, died April 1, 2013, at Davis County Hospital Long Term Care in Bloomfield, where he had resided for seven years and nine months.
He was born March 31, 1916, in Marion Township, Davis County, to Elmer and Stella Bolin Proctor. On April 22, 1939, he was united in marriage to Mabel Irene White. They were the parents of three children, JoElla Cossel of Bloomfield, Max (Kay) Proctor of Drakesville and Gene (Kathy) Proctor of Bargersville, Ind.
He lived and farmed in Marion Township his lifetime, a farm which his grandfather, William Proctor, had farmed before him. Vaughn was an eighth-grade graduate of Oak Springs School, where he served as a school board member as an adult. He was a member of the countywide Baby Beef 4-H club in the 1930s. Vaughn also served as a township trustee and was a longtime member of the Davis County Farm Bureau.
He loved people, especially the children, and remembered each grandchild and great-grandchild on their birthday for many years.
He is survived by his children; his daughters-in-law; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Victor, Dwight, Herschel, Dr. Lester and Manscel Proctor; two sisters, Fae Leffler and Mae Archer; and a son-in-law, Loren Cossel.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, conducted by his grandson, Matt Proctor, president of Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Mo. Interment will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday with the family present to greet friends from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mutchler Community Center.
