Larry D. Ellis, 64, of Muscatine, passed away March 30, 2013, at the Carrington Place in Muscatine.
Larry Dean Ellis was born July 28, 1948, in Muscatine, the son of Floyd and Mary (Bailey) Ellis. He was united in marriage to Ruby Vandola for over 20 years. Larry was a member of the Jesus Mission, where he was actively involved with helping others. He enjoyed fishing, talking on the phone and walking as often as he could. He was a very proud father and enjoyed seeing his sons and his grandkids.
Larry will be deeply missed by his three sons, James Ellis-Helt and wife, Veronica, of Yuma Ariz., Andrew Ellis-Helt and wife, Teri, of West Des Moines and Floyd Ellis-Helt of Sioux Center; five grandchildren, Kiersten Helt, Ashlee-Marie Helt, Christopher-James Helt, Bella Nizzi and Connor James Helt; siblings, Judith Archer and husband, Roger, of Muscatine, David Truitt of Letts, Herbert Truitt and wife, Bonnie, of Troy, Joyce Scott of Bloomfield; and a special niece, Tina Baker and husband, Scott, of Fruitland.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby; and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be in Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Larry’s name.
