---- — OTTUMWA — Georgia Geiger, 41, of Ottumwa, departed this life on Friday, March 7, 2014.
She was born on December 14, 1972, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of George and Dorothy Schantz Shafer.
Georgia was a graduate of Washington High School, where she was a cheerleader and ran track.
She married Bret Geiger in 2002 on the island of St. Thomas in the Bahamas.
For the past 15 years, Georgia worked as a bail bondsman with her husband. They also worked together managing the numerous downtown Ottumwa commercial properties they owned. Georgia was a talented artist and found creative ways to build new inventions as she was a master at turning scraps into treasures. Georgia had a sweet personality and was always willing to go above and beyond to help others. Georgia will be remembered as a loving wife, a cherished family member and a beloved friend.
Georgia is survived by her husband, Bret Geiger; her parents and her sister, Sissy Shafer, all of Washington, Iowa; two aunts, Margie Koehler of Keota and Pat Pepper of Mexico, Mo., and several nieces and nephews and two cats she adored, Baby Doll and Shorty.
She was preceded in death by her uncle Bill Pepper.
Her body has been cremated.
Celebration of life services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Father Bernie Weir officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Visitation with the family present begins at noon Saturday.
