OTTUMWA — As of March 1, 2014, Peggy Perdue is now flying above the clouds as an angel and is still The Pampered Princess. Peggy Perdue of Fond du Lac passed away at the age of 51 following a year-and-a-half battle with cancer.
She was born on July 24, 1962, in Excelsior Springs, Mo. She was the daughter of Martin and Orvetta (Lampe) Conrad. She was a 1980 graduate of Cardinal High School in Eldon and a 1981 graduate of Indian Hills Community College with a degree in cosmetology. Peggy married Tom Perdue on Nov. 30, 1985, in Ottumwa. They met when they were 17 years old while working together. They lived in Iowa City for 11 years, during which time their two children, Jennifer and Thomas, were born. They moved to Fond du Lac in 1993. Peggy was very active in her children’s lives, attending all their childhood activities. She was a mortgage loan specialist for CitizensFirst Credit Union and a former realtor with Adashun Jones Real Estate in Fond du Lac. She also cared for children in her home for many years. In Iowa City, Peggy worked at 1st National Bank as a teller, was the manager of three Cost Cutters locations and was the co-manager and hair stylist at Hair Express. In Ottumwa, she worked at Reflections as a hair stylist. Peggy was also very active in her community, belonging to and attending many community events. She was a member of the Association of Commerce (2009 Leadership Fond Du Lac graduate), Realtors Association of NE WI, Home Builders Association of FDL, BNI, and Women in Management. She was also a former member of Fond Du Lac Morning Rotary, Habitat for Humanity (board member) and was a volunteer at the Fond du Lac Blue Line Club, where she managed the concession stand. Peggy enjoyed golf in the summer and vacationing with her husband, especially in Charleston, S.C., and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
