BLOOMFIELD — Ronald Kenneth Davis, 58, of Bloomfield, died March 16, 2014, at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.
He was born Oct. 29, 1955, in Ottumwa to Kenneth Wilber and Jo Ann Coble Davis. He attended the University of Iowa Hospital School and had worked at Tenco Industries in Ottumwa and First Resources in Bloomfield. Ronald was an avid sports fan, following the Iowa Hawkeyes, D.C. Mustangs, St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburg Steelers. Outside of sports he enjoyed fishing, playing Bingo and attending cattle shows at the Davis County Fair. He especially loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and later the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ottumwa.
He is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Jo Ann Davis of Bloomfield; two brothers, Dave and wife Jackie Davis of Bloomfield, Doug Davis and wife JoLynne Houck-Davis, also of Bloomfield; grandmother, Ruth Coble of Dubuque; two nephews, Craig and Baron Davis; three nieces, Brandy, ReAnn and Brynn Davis; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Jo Davis; paternal grandparents; maternal grandfather; four uncles; and a cousin, Peter Davis.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church; Rev. John D. Boatman officiating. A committal service will be held at the Compentine Cemetery in Wapello County at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Memorials have been established to the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
