---- — OTTUMWA — Laura Marie Laumeyer, 61, of 1206 Monroe St., died at 2:05 a.m. March 18, 2014, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
Laura was born March 7, 1953, in Fairfield to Robert and Donna Davis Black. She married David “Chopper” Laumeyer on December 4, 1971.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Laura was a homemaker, a wife and a mother.
Surviving is her husband, David; three children, Christopher Laumeyer, David Joe Laumeyer, Samantha Cheely (Ken Roefer), all of Ottumwa and several others who found her house their home; four grandchildren, Daryan Cheely, Christian Cheely, Emily Laumeyer, Cooper Laumeyer; a stepgrandson, Adyen Roefer; two sisters, Myra (Russ) Kness of Albia and Marilyn (Tim) Ratliff of Bloomfield; a stepbrother, Michael Baxter Sr.; a stepsister, Sue Guiter; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Martha (Marty) Scharff, Tom (Leslie) Laumeyer, Nancy Laumeyer (Dave Stromgren) and Betty (Troy) Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Black Jr.; her uncle and aunt who raised her, Earl and Ruth Keller; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Verna Laumeyer.
Her body has been cremated.
Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
