BLOOMFIELD — Susan Evaline Gooden, 86, of Bloomfield, died March 17, 2014, at the Bloomfield Care Center.
She was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Martin, Mich., to Roy Parson and Edna Arline Casler Ball. She married Hubert Edward Gooden Aug. 22, 1945, in Downing, Mo. He preceded her in death Jan. 23, 1989. Susan was a homemaker and farm wife. She enjoyed quilting, reading and going on walks. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers. Susan loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Barker United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Edward (Regina) Gooden, Jesse (Connie) Gooden, both of Bloomfield, Dean (Jana) Gooden of Pulaski; two daughters, Barbara (Larry) Sparks of Mystic and Jean (Wayne) Smithburg of Milton; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Roy Ball of Washington and Lewis Ball of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepmother, Bertha Ball; grandson, Bradley Joe “BJ” Gooden; three sisters, Edna Stankowski, Irene Kline, Erma Ball; a brother, Leon Ball; and a daughter-in-law, Connie Grey Gooden.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield; Kramer Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Barker Cemetery in Scotland County, Mo.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday with the family present to greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established to the North Barker Cemetery Association.
