BLOOMFIELD — Pauline Isabelle Burdett, 84, of Bloomfield, died March 19, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa.
She was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Davis County, Iowa, to Forrest and Gail Conner Smith. She married Paul Dean “Pete” Burdett Oct. 25, 1947, in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1986. Pauline lived in Wapello County, Davis County and Kirksville in her lifetime. She was a homemaker and farm wife. She had several interests and hobbies including growing flowers, gardening, cooking, sewing, doing crafts and dancing.
She is survived by a daughter, Coleen (Mike) Hootman of Bloomfield; grandson, Eric (Natasha Boyd) Hootman of Bloomfield; two granddaughters, Lori (Rich) Johnson of Moville, Iowa, Lesli (Mark) Smith of George, Iowa; seven great-grandchildren, Adam and Seth Johnson, Breana and Brayden Smith, Karson Spurgeon, Lane Boyd, Jacob Wade Hootman; five great-great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Wesley Lefebvre, Reese Johnson, Kaydin, and Paxton Johnson; two brothers, Darrel Smith of Ottumwa, Dwayne Smith of Bloomfield; three sisters, Deana Snelling of Ottumwa, Doris Bodkins of Bloomfield, Deloris Joan Smith of Eddyville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Paul Doran Burdett; grandson, Wade Hootman; brother, Donald “Doc” Smith; and two sisters, Dorothy Wallace and Donna Harsch.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield; Kramer Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Drakesville Cemetery in Drakesville.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday with the family present to greet friends from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established to the Drakesville Cemetery.
