OTTUMWA — Dixie “Dix” A. Petary, 73, of 346 N. McPherson, died at 6:19 p.m. March 22, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
She was born September 27, 1940, in Iowa City to Charles A. and Ruth D. Trout Denham.
She had worked at Chamberlain Manufacturing and Highland Place ResCare, retiring in 2002.
Surviving are her companion, Rick Bleything; four daughters, Teresa (Will) Brown of Lancaster, Mo., Tonja (Wade Sparks) Barnett, Laura Callender and Jodi (Randy) Anderson, all of Ottumwa; a son, Judson “Bub” Letts II of Ottumwa; her companion’s children, Jennifer (Dave) Williams of Beacon and Renee (Chris) Davis of Eddyville; 13 grandchildren, Eamon Daley, Amanda Brown, Heather Hanlon, Greta Daley, Jess McElroy, Judson Letts III, Tyler Baker, Lottie Comparan, Desiré Vose, Belle Mae Sparks, Dakota Ruby, Judson Petary and Chris Henrickson; 19 great-grandchildren; and her dogs, Jamie, Buddy and Tipper
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Chuck and Larry Denham.
Her body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Inurnment will be in Eldon Cemetery.
Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
