Cleo Rinkenberger, 93, Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD — Cleo F. Rinkenberger, 93, of Peoria, Ill., formerly of Bloomfield, died Oct. 24, 2012, at the Apostolic Christian Skylines Home in Peoria.

He was born July 13, 1919, in Wolcott, Ind., to Christian and Alice Punke Rinkenberger. He married Esther S. Perdelwitz June 7, 1941, in Princeville, Ill. Cleo worked at Cat in Peoria until being interrupted to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was also an owner and welder at Morton Welding in Morton, Ill. He was a dairy farmer in Davis County for most of his life and was awarded the “Superior Farmer Award” in 1958 from the Community Vocational Agriculture Advisory Council. He faithfully served Jesus as a minister of the Pulaski Apostolic Christian Church for 29 years.

He is survived by two sons, Ronald (Janice) Rinkenberger of Ottumwa and Kenneth (Jill) Rinkenberger of Marion; five daughters, Nancy (Roger) Musselman of Hopedale, Ill., Carol (Dale) Strassheim of Lake Bloomington, Ill., Sonia (Mike) Oberman of Mediapolis, Janie (Patrick) Bailey of Norway and Marsha (Terry) Willhoit of Batavia; 26 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Waunita (Samuel) Hirstein and Bernice (Henry) Rapp; and two brothers, Edward and Glenn Rinkenberger.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Verden and Lavern Rinkenberger.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Bloomfield Apostolic Christian Church in Bloomfield; with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be at the Pulaski Cemetery in Pulaski.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Apostolic Christian Skylines Home.
