Mary Louise Jackson, 92, of Ottumwa, died at 10:55 a.m. October 29, 2012 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born October 17, 1920 in Queen City, MO to George and Edna Epperson Shively. She married Charles Jackson on August 19, 1949. He preceded her in death on July14, 1984.
A 1939 graduate of Lancaster High School in Lancaster, MO, she had worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works and the Wonderbread Thrift Store.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Mary was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bulls and St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was a strong supporter of the armed forces as her husband and four brothers all served during World War II.
Surviving is her son, George Jackson of Ottumwa; two granddaughters, Bridgett (Rod) Grooms and Keeley Jackson both of Ottumwa; four great-grandchildren, Zack, Emily and Jacob Grooms and Stella Louise Jackson; a sister, Delores Carpenter of Lancaster, MO; two brothers, Max (Neva) Shively of Lancaster, MO and Rex (Faye) Shively of Ottumwa; a special friend, Dean Grinstead of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Merlin Shively and a sister, Neva Sommerville.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Rightler officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The family will be present one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
