OTTUMWA — Sharon Kay Munley Benge, 70, of Ottumwa, died at 9:33 a.m. November 16, 2013 at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville.
She was born January 31, 1943 in Ottumwa to Martin Leo and Ruth Viola Merrill Munley.
A 1961 graduate of Ottumwa Heights Academy, Sharon had worked at Standard Kollsman, Dupy's Bakery, Ottumwa Theaters, Meredith Publishing in Des Moines and Wapello County Courthouse.
Sharon was a member of St. Mary of the Visitation in Ottumwa, where she sang in the choir and the chorus. She truly enjoyed music.
Surviving is her daughter, Deborah E. (Craig) Mueller of Bettendorf; four grandchildren, Megan Dunaway, Ryan Robertson, Tanner Mueller, Tyler Mueller; three great-grandchildren, Xaidyn Dunaway, Shane Dunaway and Evan Robertson; her mother, Ruth Munley O?Brien of Ottumwa; two sisters, Sue (Dick) Burton of Davenport and Marti (Rex) Larson of Ottumwa; a brother, Joe (Chris) Munley of Ottumwa; sister-in-law, Dee Munley of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her father, Martin Munley and a brother, John Munley.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Visitation with Father Bernie Weir presiding. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home. A Christian Wake will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday followed by family visitation until 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Visitation or to the family to be designated at a later date.
